The port is being widened to allow for larger vessels to dock, resulting in increased capabilities for the large scale coal export from Moatize, Mozambique’s largest mining area. Johannesburg-based sawing and drilling specialists Borecut, which services both local and international customers, was commissioned by global mining giant Vale to undertake the challenging task of cutting the ports massive beams, slabs and blocks, which currently hamper the docking of large vessels.
