To add to their already impressive repertoire, Bidvest Prestige has recently ventured into concrete and granite grinding as part of their floor care division.

Recently Prestige was met with the challenge of needing to fully restore a concrete floor in a warehouse that was to be the new premises of Ruwag. The requirements were to remove the enamel surface paint and to restore the surface back to its original concrete state. The project covered approximately 5200m² and needed to be completed in 18 days.

In order to successfully complete this project, Bidvest Prestige invested in 2 of Diamatic’s BMG-435 Triple Head Planetary Floor Grinders complete with BDC 1220 Dust Collectors. In order to achieve the finish required, 2 stages of metal bond diamond segmented grinding wings needed to be used. 30/40# grit wings were used to remove the enamel paint as well as any deep scratches on the concrete surface. Once the initial grind was completed, 120# grit wings were used to remove any scratches the initial grind had created. The process was completed by applying 2 coats of MM sealer which seals the concrete surface offering a smooth, stain resistant, non-slip and durable surface.
