Diamond Products finds a solution for Department of Water Affairs

Diamond Products was approached by the Department of Water Affairs to supply the equipment to recover 150mm core samples from the solid concrete wall, and Diamond Products was requested to supply a mobile hydraulic core drilling machine with core drilling capability of up to 1.5m in length, for the project.

A contractor with large surface drilling machines capable of drilling up to 30m were then brought in to retrieve the deeper core samples, thanks to their expertise combined with Diamond Products’ unique ability to manufacture custom-made high-quality drill bits, the project is now running smoother than ever.

By making use of Diamond Products’ 150mm core drill bit, the contractor has successfully received core samples from solid concrete at a depth of 23m. This system will continue to be used until the completion of the dam in 2012.
