A new 146-bed hospital construction project in Kimberly continues to run smoothly and is due for completion in August 2014, as appointed main contractor Tronkon (Gauteng) remains on schedule and within budget.
Hospital infrastructure expert Tronkon is successfully maintaining consistent progress on the demanding construction project, which includes the development of six operating theatres, an emergency centre, four ward blocks, high care unit, intensive care unit and consulting rooms.

The Pretoria-based company, which was appointed as contractor in early 2013, has achieved its current successes by making use of tools supplied by Diamond Products – a leading specialist in the manufacture, assembly and sale of diamond tools and equipment for industrial applications.

Tronkon managing director Charles Theron explains that the company is currently in the process of levelling 10 000 m2 of floorspace using the Diamond Products 435 WP grinding machine. “The floors have to be levelled to a precise accuracy before a final levelling screed and the vinyl floors can be laid. This is a demanding and time consuming task, and the 435 WP grinding machine has proven highly effective to date.”

Diamond Products director Darryl Gray points out that the Qwikchange 16 20 diamond grit pad was used on this project. “The Qwikchange range includes a universal adaptor plate that enables the product to be attached to the majority of floor grinding machinery currently available in South Africa. These universal adaptor plates provide a high-quality and precision alternative at a considerably discounted rate, which could reduce the overall costs of floor polishing projects by up to 30 per cent,” he explains.

Theron reveals that Tronkon has been impressed with the service and quality that the company has received to date from Diamond Products. “Diamond Products is extremely efficient in processing orders for consumables, with an excellent delivery time to remote areas. The quality of all products has been excellent, and we will continue to do business with Diamond Products in future projects.”
