Wheel modifications

In the world of glass processing, with so many different straight line polishing machines and manufacturers, it pays to have a solution for the various proprietary setup?s manufacturers have for their polishing wheels.

Manufacturers like Schiatti, Bavelloni, Neptun and Zafferani, all follow the basics of glass grinding and polishing except when it comes to how the wheels are fitted. Each manufacturer has their own system of fastening wheels onto their machines. Such systems require that the wheels have specific bores or backends that will fit to that machine and that machine only.

Here at Diamond Products, we have devised a solution which alleviates many of the headaches when holding stock for these machines. Instead of bringing in a specific wheel for a specific machine, we have created a way of using one wheel for multiple machines. Using in-house precision machining practices, we are able to bore out, mill down and re-drill wheels to fit multiple machines. Now a Bavelloni wheel can fit a Zafferani or a Schiatti polishing machine with no effect on wheel quality or life.

Thanks to our partners at ADI and their incredible pursuit to create quality tools, all wheels are pre-balanced to prevent any vibration when running. Thus, our machining process does not affect the quality of the wheel and will run as if it was meant for that machine from the start.

Such endeavors allow us to consolidate stock more accurately and help reduce overall costs for our customers. Such practices also allow for more flexibility when setting up machines. Should your upcoming project require a grit not typically used on your machine, we can simply substitute it for a different wheel and bore it to the correct size.
