Leading retailers turn to concrete flooring solutions
Woolworths is one of the most established brands in South Africa and they have always required unquestionable quality. This requirement extends beyond the products on their shelves to their stores themselves.
It is for this reason that Woolworths, among many other leading companies, are turning to polished concrete for flooring solutions. Polished concrete offers a cost effective alternative to other flooring products, along with lower maintenance costs, increased strength, slip resistance and the added benefit of not harbouring dust, dirt or allergens.
One of the flagship Woolworths Foods in Kyalami Corner, Gauteng, recently appointed Safri-Spec as their contractor to ensure that their polished concrete floors are installed to the same high quality finish that one would expect from the Woolworths brand. Safri-Spec has been investing in diamond tools from Diamond Products for a number of years.

Wire Sawing using the DPC-15 Electric Diamond Wire Saw
Wire sawing is a technique that originated in the stone quarries of the past. Today, it is the ideal solution when a job requires extremely thick concrete to be cut. Wire sawing is the most practical option and technique for cutting through structures and cross sections that are too large to be cut practically using any other method.
A wire saw consists of a multi-strand cable with diamond segments. The cable is threaded through a system of pulleys and is then consistently pulled back and forth through the concrete section. There are very few restrictions for wire sawing.
Diamond Products’ DPC-15 Electric Diamond Wire Saw delivers the power and flexibility needed to complete the toughest jobs out there in the field. Coupled with the machine, diamond wire offers the perfect solution where thick concrete needs to be cut.
Recently, Diamond Products demonstrated the efficiency of this machine at the Mpact Paper Mill in Piet Retief. An old wood chipper conveyor structure has to be demolished. The existing reinforced concrete uprights stretches 12m up in the air – our machine proved itself to be just what was needed for the job.
