Established in October 2015 by Ignis Maritz and Martin Mofokeng, Rapid Coring SA is becoming a fast growing company, with its main business being core drilling, chemical anchoring and concrete cutting. Currently employing 5 permanent staff members and utilizing sub-contractors for the various projects they work on, some of the flagship projects include the new Nola Extension Project as well as a new pipe extension for Easigas. Pegasus Civils awarded the drilling portion of the new Caterpillar site, along the R21, to Rapid Coring.
Currently projects they are working on includes the chemical anchoring for BVZ, started in early June 2017, as well as universal engineering on the Rite Milling plant. Core drilling of 600 holes for Mortha to start close to the end of June 2017.
With operations expanding at this rate, Ignis and Martin is planning on opening a division of Rapid Coring in the Western Cape area, which means more exposure to various sites and contractors. By signing contracts with the big contracting firms like Group 5, they can ensure continuous work and in turn employ additional staff.
Challenges Rapid Coring have faced in the past included barrels breaking due to the nature of the drilling – changing their preferred supplier to Diamond Products solved the problem immediately. Ignis says “dealing with Diamond Products has always been a pleasure, their staff are always on hand with advice and assistance. I am super happy with the service I get from them, and going forward hope to buy more concrete cutting machines as my business grows”.
