What is a Diamond Segmented Core Barrel?

A diamond core barrel is a circular tube that has specially designed diamond segments, either laser welded or brazed, onto the bottom of the tube. The diamond segments are individually manufactured for cutting circular holes into various different materials.

Diamond Core Barrels are used in drilling to make clean holes, quickly and precisely in concrete, masonry, asphalt and stone. They are also used in the extraction of core samples. Used properly, they are very cost efficient, and require little clean-up or patching compared to other methods of making openings in floors, walls, ceilings or pavements. The process of drilling circular holes into a surface, or material is known as core drilling. Core barrels are used on coring rigs, hand held drills and some pneumatic and hydraulic drill machines. The process of using a core barrel to drill or core holes is known as core drilling.

Core drilling is the application of diamond segmented core barrels, rotating at high speeds on a core drill machine, drilling circular holes into a variety of different materials.
