Guest house floor refurbishment using 150mm flexi pads

Charl Nienaber, owner of JCE Concrete Solutions (Pty) Ltd, formerly known as Patterncrete has been involved in the concrete industry for 18 years.  The company specialize in decorative, cement based coatings and flooring solutions.

From humble beginnings, JCE started offering their flooring solutions to the private sector. “We are working towards becoming the best flooring specialists in the business” says Nienaber. With this philosophy it is not surprise that they have branched out and now offer flooring solutions for large scale corporate clients. This includes the likes of Spar, Broll properties, Jingo and Coastal Hire.

Dinokeng – Goosen Farm House recently enlisted the services of JCE to remove the existing floor and to cast a new decorative concrete floor. In prior months, a concrete floor had already been laid, however, the flooring solution had failed due to the use of poor materials and unskilled labour. This is common within the construction industry, and one of the main reasons why Diamond Products try to educate the market on the necessity for quality tools and training.

JCE started the project in September 2016 and in few short weeks, completed the job successfully. Since the floor needed to be recast and polished from scratch, the standard grinding and polishing procedure needed to be followed. This was achieved with a series of different grit metal bond grinding shoes to firstly expose the aggregate, then to level the floor and remove scratches. Once the grinding was completed, concrete chemicals were then applied to harden the surface.

“Diamond Products assisted in converting my triple head planetary floor grinder to accommodate their latest series of 150mm flexible polishing pads. Generally we would use a 60mm resin diamond polishing pad to polish the surface to a high gloss finish. However, for this project we decided to try the 150mm flexi pads as we have found them to be as effective as the standard pads, however they are more economically priced.” Explains Nienaber.

150mm flexible polishing pads are a resin diamond pad suitable for concrete and stone surfaces. They can be used in either a wet or dry application and are ideally suited for variable speed grinders or polishers.

Nienaber continues “The 150mm flexible polishing pads were used to achieve the gloss finish on the concrete surface, which the client is extremely satisfied with. The service we received from Diamond Products was outstanding, like always! Their products are of excellent quality and the staff are always willing to go more than the extra mile” Nienaber concluded.
